The Sterile Processing Department (SPD), also known as Central Supply Sterile Processing Department, provides hospitals and surgical center with indirect patient care by cleaning, disinfecting, preparing, packaging, sterilizing, and distributing medical/surgical instruments, supplies and patient care equipment.

As a sterile processing technician you provide a vital role in the entire function of the healthcare facility and indirectly provide better patient quality of care. The sterile processing department is considered the HEART of the healthcare facility. With high incidences of Nosocomial Infection or Healthcare Acquired Infection, it is imperative the technician is well versed, or certified, to implement the proper way of processing surgical supplies and equipment. Our program will prepare you to take both the CBSPD and/or the IAHCSMM certification exams.
